Revolution Rails
Author: Camille
Summary: Revolution Rail is a guided bike tour along historic railways. Recumbent bikes are provided and are attached to the old railways. The Hadley Station trip is a flat out-and-back, about 6 miles, and includes a 500-foot stretch over a bridge going across the Hudson and Sacandaga Rivers. This ride typically takes about 2 hours and is suitable for all ages. Revolution Rail Co. does extend a word of caution to riders who are afraid of heights, as the stretch of trail across the bridge is 90 ft above ground. There are two other Stations in the general area, North Creek Station and Thurman Station which are both under an hour's drive away.

Activity: This is an activity that you want to reserve in advance online. You pay by the bike not the person and they offer 2 and 4 seater bikes. Plan on arriving 15 minutes early to fill out a waiver and make sure and bring water and go to the bathroom before your ride starts. They will give you a short briefing on all of the safety rules before helping you get situated on your bike. Then you are off! It is an easy bike ride and very comfortable on the recumbent bikes. It is mostly flat the whole way and you go over a bridge with incredible views of the confluence of the Sacadaga and Hudson Rivers. This is an out and back ride and you take a break ½ way through where the guides share stories about the area and the railroad.

Reflections:
This is one of our favorite activities! We have done it with everyone from 5 year olds to 75 year olds and it has been enjoyed by all. It is beautiful in spring, summer and especially the fall! There is a bridge that is 90 feet above ground so take that into consideration if you don’t like heights. I will say we have taken a, heights adverse, tween with us and even he would enthusiastically recommend it. This is the activity that everyone talks about and wants to do again whenever they visit.
