Activity:
West Mountain: The Fall Festival at West Mountain offers an abundance of fun activities for the whole family. There are local artisan vendors (try the maple cotton candy!) along with live music. There are plenty of food options with local eateries in attendance, the West Express Cafe, as well as a Beer and Spirits tasting. Wagon rides, chairlift rides, hiking, high ropes tours, and biking are some of the Fall Festivals most sought after attractions. If you’re feeling crafty pumpkin and face painting is offered.
Gore Mountain: The Harvest Fest at Gore Mountain includes Scenic Skyrides, which gives you a beautiful view of the changing leaves, live music, and a plethora of local vendors. The last Skyride leaves at 3:15 and tickets can be purchased online or in person. There are also options to hike, mountain bike, and play disk golf, along with a multitude of different games and activities hosted by the festival. Pets are not allowed into the festival.

Reflections: I am convinced that fall is best spent in the mountains. The air is a bit crisper, the views more expansive and the atmosphere more fun during the fall festivals. We have attended both festivals and recommend both. You can take the chair lift up and back at both places or take it up, hike around and hike down. I definitely recommend hiking around. At West Mountain we hiked on a path to the back side of the mountain that a staff member told us about and the view was incredible. Gore also had many expansive views and we hiked around at the top and back down the mountain as well. If you are interested in hiking get a map or ask staff for recommended hikes. Gore had a bit of a line to buy Skyride tickets when we went so I would recommend buying online beforehand if you can and picking them up at the kiosk. Every fall trip to the Adirondacks should include a mountain top view!
